What a year for JFACT!

In the past year, JFACT has quite a list of accomplishments and has co-sponsored many events with local Federations.  Here is a complete list:

  • Legislatively
    • Led the effort to pass to Holocaust and Genocide Education in all Connecticut Schools
    • Led the effort to secure another $1 million in grants to help day schools increase their security, including over $450,000 to our community for security.
    • Helped pass legislation that would make it easier for Jewish cemeteries use unused plots.
  • Secured $450,000 in state grants for 3 Jewish institutions this year to help them increase their security.  Money went to the JCCs in West Hartford and Woodbridge and a Jewish Day School in Stamford.
  • Held Legislative Breakfasts with local legislators and the Stamford Federation, Western Federation, Hartford Federation and New Haven Federation.
  • Set up speaking engagements for Sen. Blumenthal to speak in front of the Greenwich Federation, Stamford Federation, Upper Fairfield Federation and New Haven Federation.
  • In the process of setting up speaking engagements for Sen. Chris Murphy to talk to f
  • Co-sponsored a 5th Congressional political debate in August 2018 along with the Western, CT Jewish Federation and Hartford Jewish Federation.
  • Been invited by the Western Federation to speak at an October 2018 event which discusses the new Holocaust and Genocide Education.
  • Planning an Interfaith Mission to Alabama with leaders from the Hartford Jewish Federation and two Hartford Churches for January 2019.
  • Events at the State Capitol
    • Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration which highlights the many partnerships between Connecticut and Israel which included flying the Israeli Flag over the State Capitol for an entire week.
    • BIRD Foundation event to highlight the Bilateral Grant program between Connecticut and Israeli companies
    • Jewish Heritage Celebration which was co-sponsored by all 7 Jewish Federations and 3 Jewish Historical Societies
  • Spoke and participated in press conferences with Senator Dick Blumenthal along with the New Haven Federation and Hartford Federation execs.
  • Participated in a meeting with members of the Muslim community in coordination with Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and the New Haven Federation.
  • Spoke at several federations/board meetings around the state including; Stamford, New Haven, Hartford, Upper Fairfield and New London.
